FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MSTies Anonymous of Colorado and SoonToBeFamous, LLC announce production of a live Mystery Science Theater 3000 show.
The MSTies Anonymous of Colorado, the Fort Collins chapter of an independent, international Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) fanclub, announced today that they have contracted SoonToBeFamous, LLC to produce a live MST3K show. The last time a similar show (referred to as MST Alive!) was performed was over Labor Day weekend in 1994.
Past MST Alive productions have closely followed the format of the popular television show: A campy, B-grade film is screened to a (literally) captive audience composed of one human and two robots. The hapless audience "riffs" the movie by commenting on situations, responding to movie dialogue with snappy one-liners, and continually mocking the film. For this production, SoonToBeFamous and the MSTies are casting local actors to perform as the human characters; local artists are being trained in puppetry techniques and voice acting to perform as the robots.
The 2003 Colorado production will closely follow the satire and sarcasm techniques exhibited throughout the run of MST3K and use authentic replicas of the 'bots to most accurately replicate MST3K. However, this production will take a peculiar twist on this format: It will not riff a B-grade film -- it will riff a live stage play. Colorado playwright Tyler Davis has crafted "The Dreaded Women of San Pedro!", a B-grade stage play, exclusively for this event. This play has been cast and is currently rehearsing in preparation for MST Alive! This combination of media will create a truly unique and fantastic experiment for any fan of theater or MST3K.
MST Alive! / The Dreaded Women of San Pedro runs one night and one night only: Saturday, March 29th, 2003. The production takes place on the Colorado State University - Fort Collins campus in the Lory Student Center Theater; doors open at 6:30pm and the program begins at 7:00. Tickets are free, and can be obtained at the Lory Student Center information desk (970.491.6444). For more information, visit the MSTies Anonymous website at www.msties.com. MST Alive is presented through the gracious permission of Best Brains, Inc. and the sponsorship of the Associated Students of Colorado State University.

MSTies Anonymous of Colorado and SoonToBeFamous, LLC announce a second production of their live Mystery Science Theater 3000 show: MST Alive! 2.
The MSTies Anonymous of Colorado, the Fort Collins chapter of an independent, international Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) fan club, announced today that they have contracted SoonToBeFamous, LLC to produce a second live MST3K performance following the overwhelming success of the show's first performance. On March 29th, 2003, nearly 500 students, members of the Fort Collins community, and others from around Colorado joined together for MST Alive!, creating an evening of laughter and celebration of the enduring spirit of the cult cable television show. This tremendous response, along with limited ticket availability for the first show, has prompted this encore performance of MST Alive!, which promises to be just as hilarious and just as memorable. This performance will include new jokes, new riffs, and new plot twists, resulting in a unique and different experience for those who attended the first performance.

In traditional MST3K presentations, a hapless human and two robots watch a bad movie while "riffing" upon the film with hundreds of sarcastic comments and jokes. What makes "MST Alive" unique is that, for the first time ever, the invective will be tossed at a live performance.
Playwright Tyler Davis has written a piece of B-grade theater, "The Dreaded Women of San Pedro," specifically for the occasion, including many situations and speeches carefully designed for "riffing." The play will be performed by local theatrical troupe SoonToBeFamous, LLC, who will do their best to control themselves as their performances are blasted by other actors portraying the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" characters of Joel Robinson, Tom Servo, and Crow T. Robot (sorry, fans, no Gypsy).
"MST Alive" is only the third public MST performance ever, and the first in nine years, since MST's television cast "riffed" a B-grade sci-fi movie at 1994's MST fan convention. That makes MST Alive not only fun for the entire family (if you enjoy vaguely risque jokes), but a theatrical milestone you can't afford to miss!
Satisfy your MST hunger in unique fashion! Come out to the Lory Student Center Theater on Saturday, March 29, at 7:00 p.m. and join the historic proceedings. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to allow time for orderly seating.
MST Alive is presented through the gracious permission of Best Brains, Inc. and is sponsored by Associated Students of Colorado State University.
